CEMEX Colombia fleet, reduction of incidents and costs

Our customer

CEMEX Colombia is one of the largest suppliers of cement, concrete and aggregates in Colombia and currently has clients in more than 50 countries. The company relies on its fleet of heavy trucks to transport construction materials from its factories to construction sites across the country.

The problem

With a fleet of 350 vehicles operating, CEMEX needed a solution that could reduce the risk of sudden braking and acceleration, excessive speed and the shutdown of the hot engine.

How do we respond?

After recognizing that the small changes in the driving styles of its employees, together with the new forms of maintenance management of the fleet could improve road safety and achieve significant savings in the long term, it was decided to implement a Mix solution. fleet management system comprising the MiX Telematics FM3507 on-board computer that interacts with the company’s fleet management software platform.

This system is designed to collect data directly from the on-board computer of each vehicle and transmit it to the controllers of the company’s fleet through the software platform. It is also capable of generating easy to interpret reports on all important operating parameters and provides GPS location data in real time.

We implemented ÁRTIMO with its motor diagnosis modules in real time and we managed to impact the availability of its equipment reacting in time to events and analysis that allowed to generate preventive maintenance campaigns to avoid catastrophic damage or stranded on the road.

The results

After the implementation of the system in the entire CEMEX truck fleet, significant improvements were seen in road safety, as well as car engine care.

With the help of driver behavior data, the company launched an incentive program that resulted in the reduction of infractions such as speeding from an average of 800 incidents per month to virtually zero.

There was also a reduction of 4% in the total fuel consumption of the fleet and a smaller number of incidents along the way.

Vehicle monitoring and engine status helped reduce the hot engine shutdown by almost 500%, and helped the company anticipate maintenance needs and carry out preventive measures.

The most important of these results is to hear the words of satisfaction of our client:

“THIS TELEMATIC SOLUTION HAS ALLOWED US TO EASILY COLLECT AND USE THE DATA ABOUT THE OPERATING CONDITIONS OF OUR FLEET SO THAT WE CAN EXPAND OUR MAINTENANCE ADMINISTRATION, AS WELL AS IMPROVE THE OPERATING CONDITIONS SUCH AS VEHICLE SAFETY AND FUEL CONSUMPTION. THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS SOLUTION IS VERY GOOD. “
